This was a great day! We started at the Red Rocks wedding chapel in Morrison.
Tom and Beth wanted to get the family group portraits out of the way before the ceremony so they rest of the day could just flow naturally. This is a good strategy for most couples that don’t mind seeing each other before the wedding. I like to still give them the emotion of seeing each other for the first time on there wedding day. So we turned Tom around and brought out Beth then on the count of three Tom turned around and the magic began. I capture this moment in a very non-obtrusive documentary style. This also gives them a few minutes to take each other in and relax together before the wedding. We then went on to do the formal groups.
The Ceremony was amazing with clouds forming and creating a great soft light coming through the giant windows at the Chapel at Red Rocks. After the ceremony Tom and Beth went up to photograph in the rocks. It was a concert day at the Red Rocks Amphitheater so the hordes of Tie-dyed gig goers were out. This makes it a tad more challenging but we also recruited a few of these fans for an image with Tom and Beth. I really am enjoying this time with just the couple to create fun and spontaneous images. I am finding that if I can get one to two hours to just “run around” with the couple in an interesting location we get some of the strongest images of the day. Many of my past couples have told me that this was one of the most fun parts of there wedding days. We ended with ice cream sandwiches and our feet kicked up in the shade.
Then it was off to the Reception at The Mount Vernon Country Club. This is a great venue with a panoramic deck looking down on Denver miles away. It was a photographers dream with all the possibilities abound. Great food lead to dancing and relaxing on the deck looking at the lights of Denver and Golden.
Tom and Beth were a pleasure to work with and I am truly proud of the images Kathy and I created today. Here is there wedding day storybook. Enjoy!
