It is 11:15 pm. I write this as we are driving home from the wedding (don’t worry, Kathy is actually driving). We had a great day with Matt and Elissa, starting out at Three Trees Wedding Chapel. This was our first time to photograph at Three Trees and we had a great experience thanks to the great coordination by Sherry. After the ceremony we headed to the Brown Palace in downtown Denver. One of my highlights from the day was photographing Matt and Elissa alone in and around the Brown Palace. There are so many great places to shoot nearby. The Brown Palace always creates a great reception experience, with their good food and a friendly staff.

Here are some of my personal favorites.

Enjoy!

Matt patiently waiting for the ceremony to begin. I like how this background isolates him. Much like the feeling a nervous groom has as all eyes are on him until the bride is revealed and takes the limelight away, as he would rather have it.

This was our first time to work at Three Trees Wedding Chapel. The light quality is really nice in this chapel. This image has depth and a sense of place that is really important in telling this part of the wedding day story.

Gorgeous bouquet! Matt and Elissa are super happy after the ceremony.

Kinda surreal,  I really like this image of Elissa’s reflection in the limo window’s. The Brown Palace is recognizable as a downtown Denver landmark. A great place for a reception.

This is one of my favorites. Juxtaposition in the buildings and Matt and Elissa. I like the distorted shape and scale of the buildings with the cobalt blue sky.

The Brown Palace made out of its unique cut stone blocks. Matt and Elissa kicking back before the reception gets going.

This is fun. Separated but never apart….

Texture…. Color…. If this wall could talk it would have some stories.

I noticed the spooky light on in some of these windows in the building behind them. I instantly thought that they would make a great background. We had 2 minutes till they were supposed to be back at the hotel but I got this one quick. Did anyone see that streaker run by….. (inside joke)

They had one of the most beautiful table center pieces. The Brown Palace does this all in house. They do it really well.

This was a joy to create! This was all natural light found in a special part of the Brown Palace.

The Cake…Another creation of The Brown Palace staff. These people can do it all. This however is not natural light as I really had a great time creating this light. A complete opposite of the image above. I love them both.

This is highly experimental…. We were riding the escalator up and down in the hotel to get this shot. I have always thought the lighted sides of the escalator would make a great light source and it did in this image. The only trick is riding up and down the escalator backwards to get the shot.
