Kathy and I have been shooting weddings this summer from Estes Park to Aspen, but it was like coming home to be back at Red Rocks. The day started out with a threat of rain from the gathering clouds. I love to see clouds for outdoor weddings they create beautiful light and I can work without flash.
As we left the hotel where Chris and Tiffany were getting ready, it started to sprinkle. This is normal for Colorado, and we were sure it would end before we got to Red Rocks. However, when we arrived at Red Rocks and it was raining harder. Ok, Mother Nature had my attention. Fortunately, as we were starting to switch to plan B the rain quit. Great, back to super nice light and a very comfortable temperature. The wedding was held at the Red Rocks Visitor Center on the patio outside of the Rock Room. Many of the out of town guests were amazed with the beauty of Red Rocks. The Black Crowes were to play there that night and they were conducting a sound check. The wedding went off without a drop of rain. This was a very customized and touching wedding with a blessing of the rocks, as well as a joining of three colored sands to symbolize the joining of Chris and Tiffany and Tiffany’s daughter Mikelanne. It was a very powerful ceremony and left most of the audience teary-eyed. After the wedding, I had the opportunity to run around Red Rocks with Tiffany and Chris and create some very fun portraits in the amphitheater. Kathy asked security if the Black Crowes would come out for a picture, but unfortunately they declined. Too bad, because it would have made a great image. We then went to the reception for great food and partying. Dancing went into the night and featured a few backspins and other old school tricks from Tiffany’s brother.

This was a great wedding and it was very nice to be back at Red Rocks. Tiffany and Chris went up to Estes for a few days with a more extended tropical honeymoon on the horizon.

Thanks Tiffany and Chris for letting us capture your wedding day.
