I have had a great time getting to know Bryan and Amy over the past year; from our day spent up at Devils Thumb Ranch last March capturing their engagement images, to all the thought and planning they have done in preparing for their wedding day. Amy is very detail oriented and it paid off big time in planning this amazing wedding day.
We started the day at their very cool loft in Denver with hair, makeup and an international flair with bridesmaids from the United Kingdom and Russia. We then proceeded to a first encounter with Bryan outside in a garden on the property. They were then whisked off in a vintage Rolls Royce to our next location in Lodo.
We spent a little over an hour running amuck in the streets of lower downtown Denver (Lodo). We photographed in alleys, on fire escapes, in buildings and everywhere in between. We were having such a great time, I could have spent the whole day with them. But, we did have a wedding scheduled and had to get them to the Foothills Chapel in Golden for the ceremony. When we rendezvoused in Golden, we captured few quick family portraits were in order and then a few minutes of rest before the ceremony. The Foothills Chapel hosted a full house. I don’t think one more flower girl could have fit in there with the front door shutting. The light was amazing during the ceremony andf Amy was glowing. I shot this ceremony from the aisle seat of the fourth row. This is very unusual as I typically move around quite a bit during the ceremony. With all the people and the lack of end aisles I had to stay put for this one. It was really nice being so close and having the same perspective as the family members. After the ceremony, we went up the hill to Mt. Vernon Country Club. This is always a great venue and is particularly nice in the fall. Cool temps made for a very nice mountain experience, a real treat from a hot summer. The highlight of the reception for me was the introduction of the wedding party choreographed to the C.W. McCall song “CONVOY”. This is one of the reasons I love shooting weddings. A few times each year I am totally amazed and can’t believe my eyes or in this case my ears. It made for a really fun introduction and fit Bryan’s personality perfectly (no he is not a truck driver, just a fan of the open road). The party went on into the night, and I was honored to be a part of the fun. Thanks Amy and Bryan for letting me document your big day.
