Aspen is one of the best places to have a mountain wedding with great scenery, great weather (usually), restaurants that rival the best in Manhattan, amazing lodging and ambiance. Andrew has spent almost his entire life playing on the slopes of Aspen, and Jennifer learned to ski there a few years ago, so it only seemed natural to have their wedding in this beautiful environment.
The day started at the Little Nell as the girls got their things together and did hair and makeup.
We then made our way over to the gondola for a ride to the summit of Aspen Mountain where the wedding was to take place outside on the wedding deck. As the ceremony grew closer so did the clouds, lightning and rain. Once the raindrops started to fall the tough decision to move the ceremony indoors was made. The ceremony was held in the main room of the lodge that stands on the summit of Aspen Mountain with loads Rocky Mountain charm. The couple exchanged vows , coins, and rings in front of a grand fireplace made of rock and timber.
After pictures and scrumptious hors d’oeuvres, the wedding party got back on the gondola to return to the reception at the Little Nell. Once the clouds parted many guests went out by the pool for cigars and fresh air (is that possible?). After the cake was cut, the dancing began. It was a perfect way to wrap up a fabulous day.
The day went extremely smooth due mainly to Marcy and Susan who coordinated everything. If you are planning a wedding in Aspen definitely give them a call at Creative Weddings (970) 704-1300. The staff at the Little Nell was great as well. Thanks to you all for allowing us to capture this wonderful event.
Now that Jennifer and Andrew are back in California they can always relive their wedding day in Aspen through their wedding storybook.
