Have you ever met someone that you knew you really liked as soon as you met them? It was this way for me when I met Scott and Lara for the first time. I knew that they would be a blast to photograph.
We stared their wedding day at the Denver West Marriot in Golden with the girls doing hair and makeup. We then went on to The Chapel at Red Rocks for the ceremony. Red Rocks is the perfect location for a HOT summer day. You feel like you are outside with all the big windows, but you are comfortable in the A/C. The wedding was flawless and the first kiss so passionate that Lara lost her veil - really. After the ceremony I had two hours to photograph them alone. We started out roaming Morrison with many congratulations from bikers and music fans swarming the streets. I love the energy you can get from complete strangers. I am also always amazed at what you can get away with when you are with a bride in a white gown. Traffic stops for jaywalking, people give up their seats and grumpy parking attendants let us park for a quick photo without paying. Brides rule the world….I need to always have one nearby. From Morrison we then went to Old Town Golden.
I love to kayak on Clear Creek at the Golden kayak park, and try to get down there at least once a week. I have always thought this area held great potential for photography as well. It was great! It felt cooler near the water, and there was a ton of great shade all along the river. Scott and Lara climbed walls and sat on huge fish statues. This time alone with the bride and groom is such a great time in the wedding day as the couple gets to play and relax, and actually be together and enjoy each other. We were having so much fun, I could have kept going with them till dark, but I had to get them back to the reception at the Denver West Marriot. The reception featured great food and an amazing band that kept the dance floor hopping.
It was a great day to be a wedding photographer! Clients that are excited and willing to help in creating exceptional images make all the difference in our work. I think that Scott and Lara’s energy and enthusiasm is evident throughout their wedding storybook. Enjoy.
