This is our first wedding of the year, and we are always so fired up to get back to shooting weddings after a long winter break. Not to imply we haven’t been busy shooting all over the country this winter and spring, but we always love and look forward to the beginning of wedding season.

We captured Jesse and Linnea’s engagement  session in Death Valley, CA in March, and I knew after five minutes of working with them in the warm sun of the Mojavi desert that we were going have a great time at their wedding and capture some fantastic images.

On the wedding day, we were fortunate enough to have great weather , and the rocks at Red Rocks seemed a bit more massive and vibrant with this first wedding - it was almost as if Mother Nature was celebrating our first wedding of the year with us.

After the wedding much of the wedding party followed Jesse and Linnea on a walk up to the Red Rocks Visitor Center for the reception. I panted running ahead up the hill and stairs to try and document this moment. It reminded me how physical weddings can be and that I needed to get out hiking more.

Once at the reception, amazing food and service were followed by a live band that kept the dance floor packed. The bouquet toss featured something unique; an exploding bouquet. This is a bouquet that when tossed separates into many individual flowers sporting a unique message attached to the stem from the bride to each of the awaiting single ladies - much like a fortune cookies message. This unique bouquet was created by Erin at Plum Sage Flowers. I thought this was a fresh twist on a long-standing tradition.

Jesse and Linnea are off to Greece for their honeymoon. I wish them the best and thank them for allowing me to capture their wedding day memories!

Kathy and I have just returned from shooting Alex and Diana’s engagement session in the Big Apple. It is such an incredible place to photograph with an opportunity for a great image around every corner. I think we walked a thousand miles over the last three days, and loved every second. NYC has so much energy, and something is ALWAYS happening. Alex and Diana lived and met here before moving to London, England. Being the location of much of their courtship, NYC was the natural choice for their engagement session. We had a great time following them through their past looking at their apartments, favorite hang outs and learning about their experience living in the big apple.  I feel like we found the essence of their engagement in this place. As I look through the images preparing to start designing their engagement storybook I see so much emotion. I am so inspired by many of my clients: their energy, passion, lust for life and willingness to share a few of these moments with me and my camera is what it is all about.  I am really looking forward to Alex and Diana’s Wedding this 5th of July. Thanks for a wonderful experience!

We had never photographed a wedding at the Bel Mar Center and were really looking forward to creating some fun images for Guy and Kendra. Kendra is very talented with hair and makeup so she did all the girls hair and makeup starting at 10:30 am. We started our coverage with the gals getting ready. After guy arrived and got dressed we had their first encounter where they saw each other for the first time. Then we had limited time and covered a lot of ground fast creating fun unique images around the Bel Mar shopping center. I really like working in these types of environments as the energy is heightened from all the normal people doing their things. This can add another visual element with all the hustle and bustle of onlookers. We then had them back in time for the ceremony with amazing flowers and decorations featuring Origami decorations in the trees and table pieces. The reception followed with great food and dancing, it was a perfect November wedding.

Each fall we spend time photographing our clients in the golden aspen groves in the Colorado mountains, and each year the beauty of the season overwhelms us. This year we were so fortunate to spend one of our days photographing Beth and Chris. They were so much fun and full of energy. Chris made friends everywhere he went and we were invited to a nearby ranch to photograph. What a fun and intersting change of pace! We can’t wait to see what your wedding day brings!

Las Vegas is unlike anywhere else, a truly unique setting for a wedding. This is our second event we have covered in Vegas this summer, and the airport is beginning to feel like home. I have photographed Vegas weddings before but not at the Bellagio and Paiute Golf Resort, and it is so inspiring to go somewhere new to document a wedding.

We started the day at the Salon in the Bellagio Hotel and Casino. Nicole was getting makeup finished up when we arrived. After the salon, we went up to Nicole’s room where she slipped into her gown and added a few finishing touches. We then met Drew in the lobby for their first encounter. The first encounter (when the groom sees the bride for the first time all dressed up) is always one of our favorite moments. We work hard to make this a personal and meaningful experience, as it is full of excitement and emotion. After a few quite minutes to take it all in, we proceeded to create some very unique images on the Ballagio grounds. We used everything from the blackjack tables in the Casino to a tile floor in the underground parking for huge tour buses. Needless to say we covered some ground.

Then it was off to the Paiute Golf Resort an oasis in the Mojave Desert, and a wonderful venue leaving the glitz of Vegas behind for a more elegant setting. The ceremony was held outside on a perfectly groomed sea of grass with rugged desert mountains in the background. There was even a Great Horned Owl that kept a close eye on the proceedings. A wonderful reception followed the ceremony.
