Kathy and I just had the oppertunity to photograph Wes and Lauri Lea in their home town of Memphis, TN. Memphis is a visually rich city. I could have spent at least four more days shooting there. I am always amazed at what great images come from going to new locations. Many brides call and ask if we have experiance shooting in a paticular location, as if you get better the more you shoot somewhere. I guess this is true to some extent, but it is easy to get in rut and going somewhere new forces you to think and really see the potential of a location.  I force myself to create at least one new image/concept each time I shoot in a familiar location, but I really like exploring a new place with my clients, as some of the best most exciting and natural images occur this way.

I have had a great time getting to know Jesse and Adrienne over the past year. I should have know from their engagement session (3+ hrs)in the rain on Independence Pass, that they were going to be fun and up for anything.

I love their attitude of who cares, lets go for it and have a great time in the process. They managed to get perfect November weather, with blue skies and no wind. I am confident that if we had blizzards they would have been just as energetic about our time shooting outside. A great attitude like this makes me really feel like I need to step it up a notch and create something extraordinary. It’s like a gift that shouldn’t be squandered. We had a great time shooting at Dillon Resevoir, and even icy water and snowy mountains couldn’t cool their passion. I really enjoy shooting new locations, as it always brings an excitement to the shoot.

The Wedding was at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Breckenridge and the reception was at the Keystone Lodge. I’d like to thank Deacon Jim Doyle (http://www.summitcatholic.org/) for being one of the easiest officiants to work with in any church wedding we have ever photographed. He has a great zeal for a wedding ceremony as well. We would also like to thank Kelly Brady at The Lodge and Spa at Keystone (http://keystonelodge.rockresorts.com/info/grp.asp), It has been a pleasure to get to know her and she took great care in making their reception flawless.

Jesse and Adrienne are likely  siting on the beach in St.  Martin as I write this. I am  really looking forward to  hearing their thoughts when  they see this Wedding Day  Storybook.

Ashley the great!!!

This was so much fun! I photographed Ashley when she was 14 and I can’t believe she is a senior this year.

Ashley is one of those special few who really feel comfortable in front of the camera naturally. I have to really screw up to make a bad image of her…. We spent an evening in Boulder shooting in alleys, fire escapes and other out of the way locations. With the help of Ashley’s mom Jayna, hair, makeup and clothing changes were a snap. I was having so much fun we shot into the dark ending with Ashley and her super cool 1964 Camero. I could have spent the whole day just shooting her and the Camero together.

Ashley has an impressive social awareness, especially for someone her age. She raises money for many non-profit organizations locally and internationally. Her 16th birthday party was filmed by MTV as it was a huge party where all presents were donated to a local woman’s shelter. Ashley has dreams of being a Congresswoman; and I wouldn’t put this past her. She continues to amaze Kathy and I.

Scott and The Lincoln

This was fun! I love making meaningful images that are powerful and evoke emotion. Scott is one of my good friends who’s father recently passed away. Scott’s Grandfather purchased this 1962 Lincoln new from the dealer and left it to Scott’s father who has now left it to Scott. This car has been in their family for three generations now and it is in near perfect original condition.

Scott and I have been talking about doing a memorial portrait with Scott and the Lincoln, and wanted to created something that evoked memories of his Father while at the same time focusing on Scott and his future. He spent much of his youth with his father at a stone and landscaping supply yard that his father frequented as a Landscape Architect.  Scott is a talented musician and spends much of his time in the mountains running, biking, climbing and kayaking, so the landscape supply yard with the mountains in the background became an ideal location to create these images.

I had a great time shooting this, and find it so rewarding to make more than a “pretty” picture but something someone will treasure for the memories it represents.

I was really looking forward to John and Sara’s wedding. We had a great time during their engagement session in Rocky Mountain National Park. I knew their wedding was going to be fun.

The wedding was held at The Sanctuary a new venue for us to photograph in. It features grand views of the mountains and beautifully groomed grounds. The weather threatened to rain but never created more than a few sprinkles. John and Sara were so relaxed during their ceremony. They seemed to really just have a good time with it while just taking it in.

The reception was beautifully decorated and featured amazing food. I didn’t catch the bands name but they were very talented and had the dance floor packed till the views and cool night air pulled everyone outside.

Kathy and I were so happy to have the opportunity to capture John and Sara’s wedding memories. They were a pleasure to photograph.

John and Sara are honeymooning in the Caribbean.
