Kathy and I have had the privilege and honor to be mentors at After Dark Cincinnati. After Dark is a unique concept in photography education focused on helping professional photographers improve there creative vision, photography skills and business practices in a very hands on way. We have the opportunity to share and learn from other professional photographers from all over the country. Many of the After Dark shoots and classes go well into the late night hours. I was out with a group of students and Mark Fitzgibbons who is a mentor from Minnesota at 3am shooting the woman at night below. Cincinnati was a near ghost town at 3 am as we were about to wrap up our session when a TV news truck pulled up and asked it they could interview us. We gladly gave an interview and even used his powerful TV lights with our flashes to make an image of our own.

Cincinnati was a wonderful experience and we are really looking forward to the next After Dark event that will be in Charlotte, North Carolina, September 26-28th. See the After Dark website to learn more.

Josh & Evaren: An Oklahoma City Wedding

Being raised in Oklahoma and now living in Colorado for the last 15 years it is a real treat to return there once or twice a year to photograph. I was so happy to have the privilege to photograph Josh and Evaren’s wedding at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Downtown Oklahoma City. St. Paul’s has just finished renovating their courtyard under the direction of Architect Hans E. Butzer, and it is a wonderful space to hold an outdoor wedding.
Working with Josh & Evaren was a joy. They are both so easy going and relaxed, This just added to the great atmosphere of the outdoor wedding and reception at The Greens Country Club. After a short ride in golf cart to a beautiful location, we photographed on the golf course next to a lake with a gushing fountain. Guests spent the evening on the spacious deck enjoying the spring weather in between favorite songs on the dance floor inside. What a treat to photograph a beautiful spring wedding in my hometown!

Brad and Noriko’s Engagement portraits: From Denver to the top of Boulder

Brad and Noriko are a blast to photograph, I can’t wait for their wedding day! We spent the afternoon of their engagement shoot in Denver near there home on a bike ride that they frequently ride. It was a two wheeled tour of Denver on a warm spring day. This couple also spends lots of time in the mountains so we headed to Boulder to get a more mountainous feel in the collection of images. On a craggy summit we had near 360 views from Boulder below to a snowy Longs Peak above. We were treated to a gorgeous light show with god beams shining through the dense clouds over the continental divide. Brad and Noriko have a great ability to relax and have fun in every place we visited. They have a luster for life that shows in the images. I’m going to have a lot of fun with them on their wedding day and I am really looking forward to the images we will create!
