Kathy and I just had the oppertunity to photograph Wes and Lauri Lea in their home town of Memphis, TN. Memphis is a visually rich city. I could have spent at least four more days shooting there. I am always amazed at what great images come from going to new locations. Many brides call and ask if we have experiance shooting in a paticular location, as if you get better the more you shoot somewhere. I guess this is true to some extent, but it is easy to get in rut and going somewhere new forces you to think and really see the potential of a location. I force myself to create at least one new image/concept each time I shoot in a familiar location, but I really like exploring a new place with my clients, as some of the best most exciting and natural images occur this way.

[...] I am just back from Wes and Lauri Lea’s wedding and It’s official. Yes, that was the last wedding of 2009. What a great way to end a great year. It was really nice to capture their wedding ceremony at The Chapel at Red Rocks. Red Rocks is magical in the winter with snow on the rocks and the clear cold days make the rocks seem even larger and vibrant than normal. We then went to The Golden Hotel for the reception, thanks to Melissa for all the hospitality. The Golden Hotel is a gem nestled on the banks of Clear Creek in downtown Golden. The nice thing about a morning wedding ceremony is after the ceremony we still have some of the best natural light of the day to use and not another commitment. We went to Lodo in Denver to capture some fun images of Wes and Lauri Lea alone. We covered a lot of ground even though it was getting really cold (mid 20s). As the last wedding of 2009 I can’t ask for a better year or better clients. Much thanks to Wes and Lauri Lea for allowing us to capture their amazing wedding day in Colorado and engagement in Memphis, TN. [...]
